Building national readiness for Social and Emotional Learning in Ghana's classrooms.
ICDP Ghana, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE), Ghana Education Service (GES), and Think Equal (UK), convened a high-level stakeholder meeting on 12th August 2025 to co-design a national Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Framework for early childhood education. The session was held in Accra and attended by representatives from MoE, GES, NaCCA, NaSIA, UNICEF, and other development partners.
- Framework Co-Creation: Stakeholders aligned the Think Equal SEL programme with Ghana’s Standard-Based KG Curriculum
- Technical Validation: NaCCA confirmed curriculum fit and recommended adaptations for teachers’ manuals.
- Pilot Roll-Out: A Greater Accra pilot will be fully funded by Think Equal, with plans for national scale-up.
- Capacity Building: Teacher training will include master trainers, district cascades, and headteacher coaching.
- Monitoring & Learning: A joint MEL team will track baseline, midline, and endline data to inform scale-up.
- Sustainability: Stakeholders recommended exploring World Bank/GPE PAD funding and private sector partnerships.
